Colleen and Ross's 60th

Swinging Sixties
Colleen and Ross celebrated their 60th birthdays with a swinging sixties party.

Ross was born on 29 February so it was actually only his 15th birthday.

I wore Hils's gorgeous sixties-inspired dress and Jim channelled Leonard Cohen. Another guest told me she had a dress just like mine for her engagement party in 1966.

Caspie’s Easter egg

At Montessori playgroup this week Caspie created the first craft project of his life. He artfully arranged the pompoms on the egg and glued them on himself.

Casp's egg was clearly the best in terms of artistic merit and technical skill. Of course.

The Powers That Be have banned chocolate so this is the closest he will get to an Easter egg this year. But what a magnificent beginning to his creative life.

Schnuppertag
Although it's still months before Mads starts school she has already had her orientation day. This is known in Germany as Schnuppertag (sniffing about day). Mere tells us Mads ran all the way there and didn't want to leave at the end. She chose a seat right under the teacher's nose rather than sit with kids she knew. Another girlyswot like her mother but, alas, unlike her grandmother.

Grand Prix? What Grand Prix?
"Quick. Let's get out of here!", said Caspie early on Saturday morning.
So we headed to Anglesea
Some of us relaxed
While others headed for the water
"I wonder if this water's deep enough for diving", thought Caspie
"Yeah! Course it is!"
Time for some sandcastle building
Yikes! What's that noise? Can't be the Grand Pricks surely? No, it's a kookaburra laughing nearby. lovely sound.

One, two, three, four ...

"Hmmmmm, the hot cross buns in the book clearly have at least seven sultanas each. Mine only has four."

CaspAir

Arpa spent many months last year designing and building an aeroplane for Caspie.

The client took delivery of CaspAir #1 at Christmas time.

He wasn't sure it was exactly what he was looking for and had to chew the matter over. He tried it on for size.

He asked Cousin Mads to take a look. They chewed the fat together.

Mads was onboard

"If Mads is happy, I'm happy" said Casp to himself.

So he picked up his plane and tucking it under his arm he headed out to Tulla

Happy Birthdays

Happy 200th birthday to Charles Dickens. Along with a fella called W. Shakespeare, he introduced me to real literature and changed my life. Goodbye Enid Blyton.

Happy 41st birthday to Gav. Approx 37 years ago he introduced me to a dance called 'the Funky Gibbon' and was there to show me how.

Nice moves, guys

Mads's holiday in Melbourne

Mads saw two live shows: 'Charlie and Lola' and the Victorian Opera's wonderful performance of 'Cinderella'and 3 movies: 'Arrietty, 'The Muppet Movie' and 'Happy Feet'. She also had lots of trips to parks and pools and catches-up with relatives and old friends. Very sociable time.

Mads's special present

Mads designed and made this box for her olds totally without assistance. It's for them to keep important stuff in. They looooooovved it!
